The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo focuses on reporter Mikael and a murder case which is over 40 years old. Mikael realises that he cannot solve the case on his own which is where he hires Lisbeth Salander, the girl with the dragon tattoo, who is a mentally unstable yet brilliant reporter who bends the law to gain the results she wants.

THE ACTORS
Lisbeth Salander is played brilliantly by Rooney Mara. Lisbeth is an extremely complex character with many layers and many emotions embedded within those layers. Mara hits every emotion perfectly and subtly delivers an outstanding performance.

I have never been a fan of Daniel Craig and this film doesn’t change my opinion of him, he does an average job here, nothing noteworthy about his performance. He doesn’t hinder the film but he doesn’t improve it either.

The rest of the cast do excellent jobs, especially Christopher Plummer and Stellan Skarsgard who give extremely solid performances which make the film more convincing.

THE DIRECTOR
I would love to say that David Fincher did an amazing job here but he didn’t. Don’t get me wrong the film is shot great, the cinematography is good, but it is all a bit straight forward and definitely not what i expect from Fincher.

CONCLUSION
There really isn’t that much to write about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it is made well, well acted for the most part and has a solid script. However it just didn’t captivate me like i thought it would, perhaps because the film had a few pacing issues and whenever Craig is alone on screen i became uninterested.
